Movie Collector

Movie Collector, as the name so adequately points out, is meant to be used by people who have an ever-increasing collection of movies. Use this tool to catalog all the movies in your collection and then efficiently keep an eye on said collection. Thanks to Movie Collector you have a convenient means of viewing all the movies that are part of your collection, a convenient means of managing loans, a convenient means of playing movies, and much more.

Movie Collector is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system and for Apple’s Mac OS X. Movie Collector for Windows is compatible with any Windows edition from Windows XP up to Windows 8. Movie Collector for Mac is compatible with any OS X edition from Snow Leopard up to Mavericks.

All the movies in your collection are displayed on the left hand side of Movie Collector’s interface; they can be displayed as a list, as images, or as a cover flow. Select a movie and details about it will be presented on the right hand side. You can customize the interface from the View Menu in the upper left hand corner. You can choose how many panels are displayed on the interface by clicking a button down in the lower hand corner.

Movie Collector stores information about your movies in a database. You can import data into the database, you can manually and automatically add movies into the database, you can manually add movie files into the database. You have lots of options for adding movies to the database – and you can enter lots of details about each movie: title, genre, running time, audience rating, cast & crew, format, covers, movie poster, plot info, links, and more.

Movie Collector is not free, it is only free to try. The trial version is limited to 50 movies and 200 searches on the Collectorz.com central online movie database. To get rid of this limitation, you must get a Movie Collector license. This is where I tell you that Movie Collector is available as a Standard and as a Pro edition. Movie Collector Standard is great for managing a small collection of movies on a personal computer. Movie Collector Pro, which comes with more customization options, is best suited for large collections.

No matter which Movie Collector edition you get, this is a wonderfully useful tool for managing a collection of movies.
